Exhibition Design for
“The Larry Clark Retrospective “
International Center of Photography, NYC
2005
The Larry Clark Retrospective at the International Center of Photography, curated by Brian Wallis, posed some unique design challenges.
Laid out in a retail manner in commentary on the commercial commodification of the style of photography that Clark pioneered, furnished with facsimiles of seating and occasional tables on commercial carpeting, the show was designed to heighten the sense closeness and respectable distance of the viewer to the works, marking the controversy that surrounded the work when first exhibited and published.
